Governor Jenniffer González Colón announced the allocation of more than $43 million in state funds aimed at helping approximately 11 municipalities rehabilitate key roadways across Puerto Rico, as part of an infrastructure initiative focused on improving safety, mobility and access for residents.
The funding package totals $43,016,835.73 and will support municipal projects prioritized by the Puerto Rico Department of Transportation and Public Works based on roadway deterioration, traffic volume and the strategic importance of each corridor within the Island’s state highway network. Officials also said the projects selected already have the necessary technical documentation in place to help accelerate execution timelines.
“With the signing of these agreements, we are delivering for our people by addressing priority needs tied to safety, mobility and access for our communities, so residents can travel on safer roads,” González Colón said during the announcement.
The administration said cost estimates for the projects were developed using validated market data, including completed bids, municipal proposals and technical estimates prepared by DTOP.
The governor added that the initiative reflects ongoing collaboration between the central government and municipalities to advance infrastructure projects intended to strengthen resiliency and improve quality of life across Puerto Rico.
