San Juan- The Puerto Rico Manufacturers Association (PRMA) issued an urgent call Tuesday to Governor Jenniffer González Colón to swiftly name a replacement for Sebastián Negrón Reichard, who resigned as Secretary of the Department of Economic Development and Commerce (DDEC), citing a mutual lack of confidence with the administration.

The association warned that the leadership void comes at a critical moment for the island’s industrial sector and overall competitiveness, making a swift and orderly transition essential.

“We appreciate the outgoing secretary’s work at the helm of the DDEC. However, for Puerto Rico’s productive sector it is imperative that this leadership change does not hinder, delay or halt the strategic efforts currently underway for the benefit of the island’s economic development,” said Karen Mojica Franceschi, Executive Vice President of the PRMA.

The organization stressed that the next appointee must be a proven leader with the experience and vision to take charge of the agency immediately, ensuring that ongoing investment retention and attraction projects continue without significant interruption.

The PRMA reaffirmed its commitment to working closely with the administration to ensure Puerto Rico maintains its growth momentum and competitiveness in global markets.
